- New Option! Specify the window size of both the OWA mailbox
AND message windows
- If you have a high-resolution screen,
having the OWA mailbox window open in all its fullscreen glory
might be a bit excessive. Now you can specify what size
window you want OWANotify to use when viewing your OWA mailbox.
You can still leave it as 0 (default) to always have it open
maximized.
- Added "Create New" option to the right-click menu -
opens a window to compose a new message.
- Added "Last Unread" option to the right-click menu -
shows a popup of the last unread message.
- Fixed a bug with the initial release of window size not
sizing FBA login sessions. (oops!)

OWANotify20060110.zip |
- OWANotify is now just one .exe! I used
ILMerge.exe from Michael Barnett at Microsoft Research
to combine the original OWANotify.exe with the
Interop.SHDocVw.dll into a single executable. This
should make OWANotify.exe even easier to work with.
- Proxy support completed. OWANotify will now
use the same proxy settings as IE uses.
- New Command Line Option: -BasicAuth
- -BasicAuth forces OWANotify to also send Outlook
Web Access username and password as plain text when
authenticating.
Security concerns aside, some OWA servers are set to
only allow basic, even though NTLM is the preferred
method of authentication on non-FBA, non-SSL enabled
configurations. I added -BasicAuth as a
courtesy for those who had no choice in how their
sysadmins configure the Exchange Servers.

- Extremely BETA. I've been getting questions
from people getting the error message "The
underlying connection was closed: Could not establish
trust with remote server." This was
caused by SSL certificate oddities on the target
Exchange server. I've added code to bypass
security certificate warnings that a user would normally
have clicked "yes" to continue. I say this is
extremely BETA because I was in the middle of adding
default Proxy support in OWA. Yes, proxy support
is only halfway implemented in this release, but I don't
think the majority of users will be affected by this.
I think more people will be needing to use OWA from
outside normal work environments these next few holiday
weeks, so a release of a version that works better with
SSL certificates was in order. You can always use
the more stable 10101534 if you want.

- Major re-writing of how OWANotify gets text for labels and
messages. This is added in anticipation for additional
language support.
- f https (SSL) found in URI, non-Forms Based Authentication will also
include credentials as Basic in addition to the standard NTLM auth. It seems
like certain systems use a combination of Basic+SSL to protect their OWA. Plain http
URI's will continue to only authenticate with NTLM (since this at least has some
encryption built-in)
